steve madden on ‘the cutting room floor’

Did ya’ll know Steve Madden was a real one? Cause I certainly did not. Prior to his interview with the fabulous Recho Omondi for her podcast The Cutting Room Floor, I was unsure if Steve was a man, a woman, or a randomly generated name.

If you’re on tiktok, then I’m sure you’ve seen the circulating clips. They’ve been all over my fyp. We learned that he’s a good storyteller, he’s engaging, genuine, and hilarious. And we finally got our answer to the age old question, why are all these luxury brands so quiet about his “dupes” (iykyk that “dupe” is generously used here, lmao). He has presence. The kind of presence you’d rather not mess with. And I loved it.

Remember what I was saying in my last post about the lessons learned from our goop girly. Authenticity is everything. The take away from this episode (full episode available on patreon only) is to stop trying to fit a box that isn’t you. Stop trying to be perfect and flawless. BE YOURSELF. It’s magnetic.

Our boy Steve did “not” tow the line. And everyone loved it. We couldn’t get enough. He was unapologetic about being himself. He was unafraid of tainting the brand by saying the wrong thing. He was just a real person, with real thoughts. And we’re eating it up. He called us, his consumers, his “girls” like a pimp daddy tasked with keeping us safe, and well-fitted. I loved that, too. 🤭

Steve’s shoes got me through high school and college. He was there for us, his “girls” when our bank accounts were far from padded. Turns out, that’s his brand ethos. He believes fashion should be accessible and for everyone, at all price-points. We’re in agreement.

I haven’t purchased a Steve Madden shoe in a hot minute, but after that interview, I want to check out what he’s offering. The power of authenticity. Consider me one of the girls again, Steve. 🤍
