sarah creal is a baddie

Sarah Creal is a baddie.

That was my main takeaway from her interview on Mirror, Mirror with Amy Chang. My favorite part of the episode, starting around 28:45, was when she talked about building her brand and the lessons she learned along the way.

Creal is a beauty industry veteran. As Chang said, her “pedigree is insane”. She’s played a key role in shaping iconic brands, including Victoria Beckham Beauty, Tom Ford Beauty, Prada Beauty, and Bobbi Brown Cosmetics.

In other words, Sarah Creal knows the beauty industry better than the men who tried explaining it to her.

She discusses her funding journey, the men who didn’t understand, and why she ultimately chose women as her investment partners instead.

Sephora picked up Sarah Creal Beauty, dedicated to “babes 40+”, before she even sold a single product. Because the demand was obvious. Women understood the vision because they understood the customer.

The interview raises a bigger point about who gets to build companies, who gets funded, and whose expertise is taken seriously. The face of investment is still overwhelmingly male, even when the customer is female. Creal recognized that disconnect and built around it.

Creal’s got that it-girl energy.

Pretty inspiring.

Get after it, bbs. ✨
